As usual, this is right on time. I wrote today a journal entry called "This week. Just...damn." that contained this thought: I'm in a bad way this week. First the sad saga of XXXX, then finding out about YYYY's death, and just...everything. I'm sad, I'm overwhelmed, I feel like everything is just too much and that I don't have anything left to help me pull this out." Generally, I'm introspective, but also optimistic AND cynical. What I'm not, generally, is sad. Thanks, as usual, for finding me where I am.

I can sure relate this week. Sometimes, all that works is books and sleep. Sending you a hug and hope it will ease up soon. :)

Books and sleep are fortunately a given, and a hug is much appreciated. Some California sun and a hike this weekend will help.

You won’t be seeing me on Medium either. Probably for a good month or more. I’m editing a book. Devoting all my time to the project. It’s got to get done. I can’t stomach having it hang over my head. Time to throw myself all in.

So, I hear you, Linda.

Sorry to hear you’re embroiled in a legal situation. Ugh!! Hope it wraps up soon and leaves you in fairly decent shape.

Oh, that's kind of exciting. Is it your book or do you do editing? I get people ask now and then and never sure where to send them.

Legal stuff really sucks and this one is kind of sharkish. I'll write about it once it's clear and done, because people need to know this is happening, but not when I'm in the middle of it. Plus all of that is on top of my regular work-load, which kind of sucks.

It’s my book. A memoir of some pretty unbelievable events. No, I don’t edit for others.

I can imagine you are pretty buried. Legal stuff is always so “right now.” Time sensitive.

I just started posting on TikTok and am adding another weekly podcast series along with hosting a room on Clubhouse. I’m hitting the video/live social media platforms hard to build brand and credibility.

These new ventures are a lot of fun. Different. Offer more real time engagement.

But it’s time consuming too.

You're so right on legal stuff. I can think I have my day planned out, but one call can change everything and throw me a week behind in the blink of an eye. Exciting to hear it's your book -- happy editing!

I had all three things pile up today. I could see it coming. I was trying to solve at least 3 problems then another one came up. Ha! That did it, sent me over the top. What did I do - gave in, put on shorts & decent top (It's gorgeous here in Denver today) and went for a short walk. I couldn't even remember those things I was so stressed about before I left. Oh, I listened to Sheryl Crow, too - I Just Wanna Be Happy, and the rest! Music cures a lot of my urgent ills. Then I take them apart, solve one at a time (if I can) or think up something new. Music helps me tap my creativity. Book: "The Body Keeps the Score" but you don't have to read it unless you can't feel that.

Hah, just picked up that book last weekend. Putting on shorts would help instantly, I'm sure. We're at the tail end of winter, which lasts way too long here. That surely doesn't help.

It's not a book you just pick up and read to the end! I'm sure you can tell that. But I've learned so much from it. Also, he works with Dr. Judith Herman, a psychiatrist in Boston who wrote THE book on PTSD, earliest academic study. It's another hard read but I learned a lot from that - "Trauma and Recovery." It's always a good one to refer to someone who seems like they may need it. I got it from the library a few times before I bought it!

I will look that one up. Complex PTSD by Pete Walker is also excellent. It's his second, and friendlier reading than his first book.

You said, "I wanted to slap the guy." But you didn't, did you? Why?

lol, Ben. You're right, I did not. Why? Human decency, I guess. There's a whole lot of opinion police on the internet and I have no desire to join that group. To each their own. The only place my opinion matters is in my own writing. Thanks for reading. :)

Hope this weekend brings some old stuff your way👍😘 Here’s a laugh for you: each newsletter you send I read and of course, heart but...you wouldn’t know, until today. ‘Cause I have not been logged in ! At least that was the word from substack this morning! I am sitting here smiling, taping my head and going Duhhhh.

This was me, exactly. "The mood says no first. If we don’t listen, the body speaks next." Now I remind myself to listen.

Thanks, Linda. I've been wondering why I'm feeling as I do. It turns out, I hit the trifecta! I've actually considered hiring a professional organizer to help with the overwhelm, but I'm afraid it will cost too much and I won't like the changes or won't able to maintain them. Have you heard of FlyLady.net? Marla Cilley says to start by giving your kitchen sink a good cleaning and go from there. I'm going to do that and sign up for her prompts. I highly recommend her methods for restoring order. Of course, just like AA, for the program to work, you've got to work the program. Wish me luck!

This morning I went to get coffee and my peace lily had collapsed from lack of water. Omg, I've neglected the plants, too. So I watered the poor thing. She'll bounce back, but it's a long way of saying I'll go have a look. Maybe she'll have some tips for me, too. And I do indeed wish you luck! I hope spring will show up and help. Open windows do wonders for me.

I often overextend myself and felt like that Friday. My day job is I work in manufacturing and it's hectic. Everyone wants everything now, and we're constantly responding to knee-jerk reactions. Over-time is the norm, and it leaves little time to do things I want to do.

So, instead of stressing I write short-form articles and this works for me. And I'm stubborn too.
