Working on muting in house Medium publications until this changes.

I wonder how many people will do that. Also wonder what your homepage will show in the spaces they've reserved for their own publications. Will be interesting to watch.

Yeah...I can see we should be mad. How difficult was it to do your own publication on Medium? Also, I just shared you with the rest of the world. I hope you don't mind.

Omg, Henya -- thank you. I hope some of the rest of the world likes my writing, then. It was quite easy to do my own publication. I just clicked create new publication and followed the prompts.

Little note -- whatever you "first" name it will become the url. You can change the name later if you want but the url will forever keep the first name. I used my name so that would be the url. As you figure it all out, everything can be changed but the initial url set by the name, so being able to change what you want to makes it less scary.

Hope that helps. :)

Hi Linda,

If you end up offering a fiction writing workshop I want to be in it. Thanks for all the great info you share with us.

For what it’s worth, I love your writing and I’ll keep searching for your name on Medium to find your stories. Thanks for what you do.

I absolutely agree 100%. What the hell's wrong with them? I don't get it?

Right? I sure hope it doesn't turn into clickbait heaven over there.

So, so, odd. I bet their front facing magazines don't have loyal followers.

That's an interesting thought, Margie. Makes me wonder if the focus on publications over writers is to boost readership of their own in house publications. After all, they're the only publications with a staff of paid editors.

I think I'm on to something. In my personal experience, there are some writers I will never read. They have great headlines, but the story has empty calories and no information. They are turning branded professionals into their columnists. I think it will work. All of us doing publications, have built followers by quality content and engagement. It's not our name per se, it's the overall quality of our niche.

I had subscribed to Medium on a monthly basis. After two months, this morning, I signed up for a year. I very deeply regret this. If there is a way to get the devil out, I would like to know how. It's all getting too difficult for me. I only want to things in life. Success as a writer ... and peace. The first rests on my shoulders. The second is being taken away from me by those *%#* people at Medium. Let me out, give me back my $50, and leave me alone. This is addressed to Medium, no to Linda. I will then, if possible, subscribe exclusively to Linda's posts. Medium is NOT for writers. It's about themselves. Get me the flug outa here.

I hear your frustration. For the life of me, I don't understand taking the focus off writers on a site that depends on them to create all the content. Like I said above -- makes me wonder if it's just another way to try get more eyes on their inhouse publications. Thanks for the kind words about my writing. If you follow me as a writer, you should see me in your feed.

If you're using a desktop, try this url: https://medium.com/stream/authors

It doesn't work on mobile, but it does work on desktop, and you can see writer names that way. :)
