My new neighbors are building an ugly PVC and wire fence on our property line today. This helped me cope. Thanks.

Denise, that moved me. I'm sorry about the ugly fence you're going to have to look at. I'm glad this helped.

I’m already plotting what vines and climbing roses I’m going to plant.

I knew there was a reason I like you. That would do it. I would do the same. Virginia Creeper grows super fast. Along with some climbing roses, it would be just lovely!

When life gives me lemons, Linda, I’d rather make lemonade than make war.

Thank you. Never know when it's my turn to scrabble out a nest in the sand, you know? I'm glad you enjoyed it

And just because it is there to be scrabbled doesn't mean it will be. Some would just walk on by, and where would the story be then?

Beautiful and brilliant, Linda. I'm with you. And death... it's where we're all headed. Might as well embrace that reality. Wonderful piece... so many good nuggets and points u make.

How dare you. How dare you drop into my hand as I scroll blithely such a damned moving piece of writing when all I planned to do was to check the weather for tomorrow before bed. Instead I see white feathers and blood, feel purple flowers in silence, stillness, a shadow over my shoulder of my mortality. Memento Mori. 🙏✨️❤️

What a beautiful, bitter-sweet story. Quite touching. Sad. But I disagree. Life is much more than something that ends. It's the start, the initial learning-preparation phase of something eternal. And what are we here to learn? To love one another and the One who created us and gives us that thing we call "life". That poor seagull dying alone on the beach. The magpie funeral (I've seen something similar with crows.) I agree this bitter earth can be so cold. It's our job to warm it up as best we can. You did your bit of "warming," Linda, with your beautiful prose and stories. I hope my comment adds a tiny bit more "warmth."

Ah, Bob. It's not that it's something that ends. The point was that because it ends we need to see how precious and fleeting it is. We never know when we will be that seagull on the beach. You know?
