I don't see it but my numbers are still sucking worse than ever before.

Yeah, it kind of sucks. Hope they decide it's not worth rolling that one out.

I have not seen the side bar. I don’t pay much attention to the read ratio. Why? I don’t care.

Will be interesting to see how many people are seeing that sidebar.

Curious as to why you feel Medium(or for that matter any online forum) has to let you know what they are doing with your content? Do you not understand They know what is best for us all(and their interests)? I do not have the sidebar, just the article listings at the bottom - which I have to pay to read.

Look forward to and value your emails, a little bit of real-world sanity.

Hey Jerry -- I don't think Medium "has to" let us know anything. At the same time, the top 1000 writers on the site are the ones that send them paying customers. Ev as much as said that in an interview. (I wrote about it a while back) So while they have zero obligation to tell us anything, a little consideration for the people who bring in their paying customers would be basic consideration.

P.S. Thanks for that last sentence. :)

Hi Linda, I don't see any sidebar lists, just those stories at the bottom. If those stories aren't that connected ... couldn't it be that they're from those writers employed by Medium or genres that aren't much explored by readers and the platform is trying to push them? But I'm not good at guessing, so it's just an idea.

Anything is possible, I guess. Could be that they are pushing the stories of the people they have given minimum payment guarantees to. If I saw the related feed, I'd try find out, but I don't see it. lol

Okay, so this is funny. Cuz yesterday I just saw it, then I refreshed my browser and it disappeared, and it pops up again.

Honestly, it's annoying af.

There is already "suggested" to read at the bottom of each article that is published in a publication, isn't it?

Yes, I would hate it if they roll this on the sidebar. It might be the downfall of Medium as an "ad-free" site, because anything on sidebars just screams "ad space" to me, even if it's technically not ads yet. Plus, as you mentioned, the suggested reads aren't even related at all. LOL on that one. More confirmation on how they need to work on their algorithm for feeds.

My stats have been all over the place the past 2 months, generally on downwards too. But it really depends. Like I got 100% read ratio for 2 short poems I wrote in Aug. 100% with over 150 reads. Not bad for a small writer like myself. I never scored 100%! haha.

Now, I am not getting fixated on writing anything or looking at stats. It kills my morale and inspiration.

Also, I think JJ Pryor also mentioned how his stats have plummeted like never before. J.J.!

I also just completed unmoderated research for them about a new editor interface they are testing out. It's okay, but I am not getting too excited. I would prefer they spend their efforts on improving feeds and the quality of content.

I like the rant and Nietzsche's apt quote. :)

Omg, so you see it too, Yuyan! Thanks for sharing that. Does it show up every time you go to Medium or only some of the time? To me, it seems like if a writer got a reader to click into an article, medium shouldn't be trying so darn hard to pull the the reader away somewhere else. Kind of ticks me off.

So they are testing a new editor, too? That's interesting. I didn't get that, either, obviously. lol. Out of curiosity, what's different in the new editor?

I have only seen the sidebar feeds once, so far.

It felt like a glitch because there will be this green bar at the top that says " refresh for live version". It's been happening and it makes me feel my browser is being hacked!

I also noticed the time it happened tends to be wee hours for the Western hemisphere.

I was surprised I got the email to test. Well, I get $25 compensation for giving my feedback. Still waiting for that.

3 main differences in the prototype lie in when you are writing a new story, what is showing on the left and right collapsable panels. Left reads drafts and published. Right reads "control panel" which opened, shows highlights, lists, and responses.

Also, when writing, there are shortcut keys that help with formatting, so it feels like your fingers don't leave the keyboard as you are writing.

And oh, there seems to be a drag-and-feature for pulling highlights and responses, that we saved. The lists didn't work for the prototype so not sure if they want to include that in.

Nothing too major, in my opinion.

I hope I'm describing them right.

I get the sidebar but not on all posts. I don't like it. I agree, the related posts are not related. I will not click on them.
