A Giant Substack Tutorial For New, Curious and Struggling Writers
Everything you didn't even know you didn't know. Get your coffee!

Happy Friday,
Last week I told you about the dumbest mistake I made when I started my Substack.
As I was writing the Substack tutorial I realized another mistake. You’ll find it in the “topics” section. Don’t make the dumb mistakes I made. lol.
But first?
I’m doing a test. And you know I’m going to write about it, right? Because that’s what I do. I test stuff and tell you what happened.
The new CEO of Medium said if we drive external traffic to a post on Medium, that’s what it takes to get a “boost” in visibility. I’m not sure I bite, because half of Medium’s traffic comes from Google. That’d be a lot of boosting if external traffic was the ticket.
But I want to see for myself.
So I posted the entire tutorial on Medium. I’ll bring it over here later. For now, this is an experiment to see if I get said boost. Next week I’ll screencap my stats and show you whether there was a boost in views or not. Should be interesting.
Want to place a bet? lol.
The tutorial is pretty big. So even if you’re up and running on Substack, you’ll probably learn things you didn’t know.
Could you do me a favor and read it over there?
And thank you!

Very informative. I hope you can confirm that driving external traffic to a Medium article makes a difference.
I have read it on Medium. It was well written.
