I've had two stories Boosted: one has done spectacularly (for me) well, with over 19K views in its first month. The other is around 850 views in about two weeks — still very good for me, but nothing like the first one. I can't for the life of me understand why any Medium editor would let it be known they were capable of suggesting Boosts; it would be like standing in front of a firehose and yelling, "Sure, turn it on!" Another couple of Medium mysteries . . .

Hi Jan, it's Kristina God from Medium. I'd love to feature you in an upcoming YouTube videos where I show a collection of Boosted stories. Would love if you could send me an email mail@kristinagod.com with screnshots of your views and earnings :D I know from an official Medium representative that there are more than 30 pubs able to Boost. I could add more to Linda's list (and maybe will soon) if I get a GO. In May, Medium will add more and more curators/pubs to the list. Why? Medium is trying to pick as many different corners on Medium represented as possible. I'll share more in my next video. Thanks in advance for the screenshots, Kristina mail@kristinagod.com

My story Art in Motion got a boost. I’m in the 500 view range. It’s about my mom, her passion for art and the shoe house. I have no idea how I got boosted. However, the photo of my mom next to a sculpture in the Baltimore Museum of art garden says it all. It educates, follows a timeline, and shows how art build community. Outsider art is a thing.

That's awesome Margie. I'm kind of impressed to see the type of stories that are getting boosted. It feels like the old days before hustle, side gig and meta posts took over.

When you say the publication is part of the boost program, do you mean one of the editors is a member?

That's how Tony phrased it in his original post, that publications will be part of the boost program. Same verbiage is in the 9 links above, where they say "our_pub_name has been chosen to be part of the boost program" So it sounds like they aren't choosing writers at random, but people who run publications if that makes sense.

Thank you, Linda. Great info.

Still not enough to get me to return to Medium. My chances of being boosted are nil. Big sigh.

75 books published, but no luck on Medium.

I wrote a story the way I wanted to. The CTA us how my mom lived her life.

Hey Linda, I know about these 9 pubs and could add more to the list of 30+^^ I guess for Robin and Co. it's great to get more attention for their person, writing and publication. That's why they *sell* it. As shared with Jan, I know that Medium will add more and more pubs/curators to the list. Why? Medium is trying to pick as many different corners on Medium represented as possible. I'll share more in my next video. Did you apply with History of Women too?

Yes. It was validating. I had a writing discussion with Rui Albee about his desire to write about his mother. That became a prompt. My mother was so complex. I didn’t want to focus on her flaws.

I recently had a story published in The Memorist called “My First Suicide.” It has not been nominated for a boost. It’s not surprising since they publish a lot of good stories. It’s doing okay anyway (by today’s standards) but I can’t help but think that if I’d published it in 2020 or 2021, it would have done much better. My highest earning Medium stories ever were published during that time period. The top earner was 7 minutes long and earned over $2,600, but its read ratio is only 35%. My recent story is 6 minutes long, has earned just over $40 and has a general read ratio of 86% and a subscriber read ratio of 90%. Does read ratio even matter? Did it used to?

This was really helpful! I've been trying to find boosted publications for a long time

Medium Publishes its own list of 100 publications in the Boost program but it seems to me that something else is going on as written about by one of the most astounding success stories in the Boost program who has risen to have 16500 followers in six months and publishes exclusively in a Ppublication called Activated Thinker which churns out stories by the hour and is not even on Mediums list of publiications participating in Boost. His name is Shane Collins.

How do I know Me Shane is being amplified by Boost? Because he sells the protocol, he uses to create a story in 45 minutes that sounds human and can't be detected by anti-bot applications. I don't follow Mr. Shane, but every day he is there in my stream, and his followers are increasing by leaps and bounds. Surely if he is marketing this AI enhancement for writers, he is also using it.

If I can spot this, why can't Medium? It makes the boost look like one big hoax. Mr. Shane unabashedly sells his protocol as a way to exploit the boost for AI-generated content.
