You're very welcome Tom. Now I just need to figure out if this is the one I want to add sponsorships to, or whether to do that with History of Women. lol. Decisions, decisions
I'd be happy to pay $50/ year for reading this newsletter. And I'm only one of multitudes. Your articles are worth more, but that seems to be the going price for newsletters.
Oh I may have to put on my creative cap and see where/how I could fit into the substack universe. Twinkle, twinkle! Thanks, Linda, for being a North Star for so many of us
Right, Jen? I'd never looked and once I started looking, it opened my eyes to the many different things people are doing here. And thanks for always being there. xox
The newsletters with recipes surprised me! I was also surprised when I read the ones you linked and did NOT find one that matched the cookbook we published with recipes connected to our orchards in Central Texas! Woo hoo! Lots of stories connected to those 700 recipes!
Thanks for pointing me toward a paid newsletter opportunity I can support even while subbing elementary classes (4th and 5th grades) during the school year!
This was optimistic and well written. Thanks for doing the leg work for so many of you readers. I've thought plenty about wtf I could write that I could actually STICK with enough to get paid. Back in the day I had a paid Substack that related to my travel blog but since that blog retired, I don't really think there's anything I could write that's worth regular money from someone.
When I look at some of the ones with thousands of paid members, I'm not sure I'd pay for them. But just cause I wouldn't doesn't mean others wouldn't. Obviously. lol. The sticking with part is hard, for sure. And thanks for the first sentence. :)
I think it's a case of needing a larger audience before going paid. I think it's unlikely a stranger will happen upon a publication and immediately pay for it. That's the hard part...to build a large audience you have to give away the good stuff and then what are you left with?
Hey Winston -- very probably. Honestly, I'm trying to figure out whether to focus more on what I do as a business (which is helping people grow their sales) or whether to focus more on the History of Women pub. But yes, I'd really love to make something fly here, which will inevitably mean more writing here. :)
Yours is the only newsletter I open and read with something approaching regularity! I love your conversational style, and your writing isn't just fluff—it has substance. It has useful information and you don't break trust with clickbaity titles or claims. So thanks for that! :)
Thank you, Linda, I have been wondering about this for a while and you have been super helpful. Sometimes I just get bogged down with where is best to publish to be read and perhaps paid. There is so much out there to sift through, that days go by with just reading and no writing. Still not getting very far, so again, thanks.
Thanks, Kristina
I'm not a writer, but I care about those who are suffering at Medium. I'm sharing this piece with them. Thank you for your thoughtful advice.
Thanks, Jim. Hope a few others can build something that works for them here. :)
I've been thinking about going onto Substack. This may get me moving. I write a weekly blog attached to my website, but I'm ready to move on.
Thanks for the great advice.

I love everything you write!
Hugs,

Right? They surprised me, too. I'd never really looked. And hugs right back!
We can always count on you and your curiosity to share great insights! That might be the catalyst to dip my toe in substack. Thank you!
Right, Denise? You're welcome. Hope you do. Let me know, k? xoxo. By the way, Happy Belated Anniversary. God, what a crappy friend that I forgot. lol
Have to add those external links to my newsletter.
Right? Me, too! Need to spend the weekend cleaning up my site.
Thanks for the explanations about Substack.
You're very welcome Jerry and good to see you again. :)
I think I may have to think this out again.
I agree, Benjamin. I think it's worth another think, for sure.

I have commitment issues I think.

Cool information, thanks - I didn't know this: "I wanted to know if I could reach just some of my readers without a post going up."
Right? That part was amazing to learn!
I like your articles. They are very informative. So will you be writing more often here?

What a nice thing to say, Kenzie. Thank you! :)
Hmm . . . interesting. As always!

Such helpful information, Linda. Thanks a lot!
